• Articles for Wisconsin Horseman's News by Julie Stammler | June07 | May07 | Feb07 | Manitowoc / June 07 - Last month I welcomed the paint mare, Scotcha Gotcha Good (Fannie) owned by Jean Everson of Pulaski. After only a few days being listed for sale, we congratulate the new owners of the gorgeous mare, Steven & Jean Monika from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Steven bought the mare for his wife as a birthday/Mother's Day gift - what a sweet husband! Fannie will continue to stay at the ranch for a couple of months until her new owners are ready for her at her new home. After several months of talking to Malcom Macy from Street, Maryland, we finally got to meet in person. He is the new owner of our multi-National titled Andalusian mare, Rossa Lita BR. He drove to Wisconsin to pick Rossa up and bring her home. We gave him a tour of the ranch and introduced him
to the horses. He was very impressed with our stallion, Gentil MOR, and
anxiously awaits the arrival of the Gentil x Rossa foal
next year. Malcom called to tell me they arrived home fine and Rossa is
getting to know the cows in the next pasture and the other horses that
Malcom owns. Our late February pure Spanish Andalusian colt out of our National titled mare, Mia, by multi-National titled Champion, Gentil MOR, is growing fast. Nevado is very large with gorgeous bone and movement. He is extremely well put together and appears to have inherited his sire's gentleness. Two more foals were born in April. Our pure Spanish colt (multi-National CH Gabeno x National CH Reina del Sol) was born at 5:30pm on April 16th. Zelia del Sol, Reina's 5 year old daughter, was the recipient mare for this birth. Zelia is a wonderful mommy and we thank Rothrock Andalusians for the ET services. This colt is a full brother to Eclipse BR, who is now owned by Carlos Macias. The next foal born was out of Jen Bender's Paint mare, Achoo, who gave birth to a gorgeous filly at 2:00am on April 24th. The new filly's barn name is "Bunny". She is strong, happy and full of color. We have one more foal due this year, at the end of May. Our multi-National Champion mare, Rhianna BR (buckskin) is due with her first foal. The new owner is anxiously awaiting the birth as are the rest of us. Rhianna is bred to the cremello stallion, Saphiro, owned by Dennis and Ginger Vosburg. We are busy with breedings for next year's foals. We are breeding Mia and Reina del Sol to Gentil MOR and our PRE black mare, Macarena del Sol, to Primoroso, the PRE black stallion owned by Raul Armendariz from California. Trainer Jen Bender has been keeping very busy with the training of the Andalusians of Branch River Ranch, as well as the Paints and 1/2 Andalusians of her clients. She has already been showing with the Paints, but our first Andalusian show is not until the end of May. Hopefully, Rhianna will have her foal so that I can attend the first show of the year. Our April foals kept us from attending Midwest Horse Fair this year. I guess when you're a breeder also, foals and horse fairs/horse shows tend to conflict from time to time. A special congratulations to Alessandra Schwartz (Alla) who purchased the stunning black pure Spanish (PRE) colt, Costalero del Sol, from Maria Mandina of Hacienda del Sol in Florida. Costalero is a Maipe breeding out of Costalero XII x Majedera. He has superb dressage movement and looks as though he is going to be 16+ hands. Alla also owns Vixen MC (1/2 Andalusian) and Vixen's 2006 filly, Dinamita, sired by the Andalusian stallion, Gabeno. With her two yearlings and her mare, Alla will be spending a lot of time in a barn...brushing, grooming, ground training and riding. The newly refurbished outdoor arena is finally completed with new split rail fence and sand/rubber rooting. All that is left is the landscaping and the dressage letters. If Mother Nature cooperates, the project will be completed soon. The rest of the paddocks are being redone, as well. We are working on all new wood fences for the paddocks and new paddocks will have Nelsen waterers installed like the rest have. Until Next Time... God bless the brood mares and happy foaling! |
